 It’s all just a state of mind……
What if I said to you that your life, your reality is all really governed by your own state of mind? Would you say, that’s impossible, she’s talking nonsense… what a load of rubbish! Or would you be intrigued at the possibility of being able to change your life by simply changing the way you thought towards it? If the answer to this is yes or even if the answer is no, please read on … Let me share with you what I have learnt on my journey of self discovery so far. I’m so excited to hope that your journey can also be made lighter by remembering this simple piece of knowledge…It’s all just a state of mind….
Reality is what we perceive it to be. Just like the old saying ‘beauty is in the eye of the beholder’, so is reality. My reality is different to your reality because it comes from or is created by the mind of the beholder…. So you see how millions of people could all share the same experience BUT their individual experience or reality will be different because it all depends on how each of their minds perceives the experience. This also explains how , take a simple example. Two people wake up late for work… One person gets up in an absolute fluster, running around like crazy, stressing about being late, making an absolute scene, whilst the second person wakes up late, accepts the fact, goes about getting ready for work, just like he would any other day…. He has a great day at work achieves his goals. The first poor old fellow like a freight train out of control, stressing about being late, forgets his lunch and important documents for the day, has a snap at a fellow co worker and has an absolutely crappy day! All of which could have been avoided by simply perceiving being late for work in a different, more positive manner.
What I’m getting at here is that our reality really is just a state of mind. Negative situations only happen when you perceive them to be negative. It all starts on how you perceive the situation or experience. We do this by viewing it as either a negative or a positive in the first instance. Recognising that your experiences are dependent on how you think about them is the first step to set about changing them. The second step is to accept them. Imagine how great it would be if you could eliminate ALL negative experiences in your life! By having comfort in knowing that everyone of your experiences are’ happening exactly how it is meant to at this present time’ you can take a great load off and yes, change your reality to a more positive one. Acceptance is the key here. Acceptance of your lot and the part you have played in it can be quite confronting. Letting go and accepting that yes, life has dealt you some tricky situations but hey, I can either sit back and be a spectator in my life, watching as things happen to me and complain about it or I can become the creator, accepting what I have been dealt and using it to my advantage to create a magnificent reality. All this is done by simply accepting life, what it throws at you and changing your thoughts to allow you to see the many sides of every situation.
 Changing how you think can be a very difficult challenge. I can hear some saying what about something absolutely horrible as ‘I just lost a family member’ how can that be a positive experience…. As tragic and gut wrenching as it is in these situations, you will find that the inspiring human beings that get through and finally rise up after this sort of reality are those who practice acceptance…….This doesn’t mean that you necessarily have to be happy or that you agree with what has happened, just that you acknowledge and you accept it. Acceptance allows for you to be the master over your mind in any given situation, rather than allowing your mind to control and create your reality.
Letting go and accepting things to be the way they are can be quite a daunting experience, more easier said than done and something that in which to master you may have to constantly remind yourself of when challenging experiences arise. However the effort is well worth it! The mind will think whatever we tell or let it think. Every time we go to hold a thought there is a brief split second in which we decide whether or not we WILL hold that thought. There in that split second lies the opportunity for us to CHANGE the thought. What an opportunity! Change your thoughts, your mind and you can change your reality and ultimately your life!
